Two things spurred David Theriault’s interest in reimagining what we do in the classroom.

The first was his own experience with school. While he loved learning and reading, he was not the best student when it came to grades. He still remembers that feeling when he works with his students. The second was the birth of his son. From the day he was born David knew that he had eighteen years to transform his son’s K12 experience. He shares his experiments on his two blogs thereadinessisall.com and ideafm.org in the hope that we can get somewhere better: together.

I love being a classroom teacher, 2018 will be my 25th year of teaching high school ELA. In addition to teaching, I’ve been a department coordinator, tech resource teacher, WASC coordinator (twice), journalism teacher, and Academic Decathlon coach.
